This homage to the Wild Rose has six flowers blooming with five more buds entwined around a stem of some 240 thorns and 48 rose-hips. The paints are enthused with a Rose Oil prepared by a Hungarian herbalist. The centres of the flowers are guilded with 24kt French green/gold leaf.
Wild Rose & The Bramble Patch
Late one February morning, over a year ago, I cut and cleared an almost impenetrable ‘bramble patch’ on the square of ’no-mans-land’ next to my house. Using a gardeners tool that looked like an electric crocodile on a stick, I started to cut through the deadwood. Hidden amongst the briars I noticed a small but verdant shrub with delicate spiky leaves. I took extra care to clear around it. I was rewarded for my diligence with an enthusiastic blooming Rosa Canine or Dog Rose.
7 Native Wild Flowers
